Surveys are your opportunity to tell us about your experiences and to suggest ideas for enhancement. We will carefully consider the results of all surveys and try to identify areas where improvements can be made to benefit students.


What Surveys Does the School Participate In?
The School takes part in two national surveys, run by the Higher Education Academy. These surveys are known in the sector as, the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) and the Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES). The surveys are designed to inform sector bodies and policy makers about the experiences students can expect across the country, and to help institutions understand what they are doing well and where they could do better.

PTES (for face-to-face and distance learning MSc, PGDip and PGCert students) runs annually, whilst PRES (for research degree students) takes place every two years. From 2017 PRES will run annually. PTES last ran in 2016, PRES last ran in 2015, and both surveys will run in 2017.


How Do I Take Part in PTES 2017?
All postgraduate taught course students will receive an email from Bristol Online Surveys (BOS) on 8 May 2017. The email will provide you with a personalised link to the survey. You have until 9 June 2017 to complete PTES.


How Do I Take Part in PRES 2017?
All research degree students will receive an email from Bristol Online Surveys (BOS) on 20 March 2017. The email will provide you with a personalised link to the survey. You have until 18 May 2017 to complete PRES.


What Happens To the Results?
We will release the headline results as soon as we can after the survey closes, so that you can see what other students have said.

Once the School has considered the results through its Senate Sub Committees, we will provide you with an update on the actions we plan to take in response to your feedback.
